Mobile HGV Engineer - North East
 
I am recruiting skilled individuals to join our technical in house mobile team. To maintain our existing and constantly growing mixed fleet of (RCVs), skips and hook loaders, walking floor combinations, high impact protection vehicles and traffic management vehicles, gully tankers and food waste collection trucks.
 
Home Based / Mobile working - with the flexibility to assist around UK when and if required.
Working alone but with a great team behind you to work alongside and assist.
 
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 45 hours a week
Salary: £50K
Overtime available, Company van with the option of personal use, 33 Days Annual leave (incl statutory). Continual training and development.
 
Job Purpose
To carry out vehicle & equipment inspections and repairs on location - to industry standards.
To diagnose and rectify faults, carrying out repairs efficiently & effectively and ensuring rectification work is to the highest standard. 
Complete documentation to ensure compliance.
 
Requirements
HGV Technical qualifications, 5 years minimum Experience, Experience diagnosing and repairing faults on chassis, body and specialist equipment - Manufacturers including Dennis, Terberg, Faun, Geesink, HIAB, Heil, HYVA.
 
Main Duties
·Routine servicing and MOT inspections in line with DVSA standards on customer sites in addition to our depots.
·Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained to a roadworthy standard.
·Diagnose and rectify faults on chassis and specialist bodies.
·Ensure work is completed efficiently to maximise productivity.
·Demonstrate an ability to work safely alone following all lone working safety guidelines.
·To ensure all PPE is kept to a suitable standard and worn when instructed.
·General housekeeping within your working area.
·To follow all in house and 3rd party premises health & safety guidelines.
·Working alone and also with colleagues as required to ensure customer service is at a premium.
·Complete all documentation accurately to company standards including job cards.
·Ensure van is kept to the required standard of road worthiness and cleanliness, any defects reported.
·Ensure any company tooling/equipment is kept to the required standard, any defects or loss reported.
·Maintain van stock control.
·To request training and support to aid personal development.
·To develop and maintain positive customer relationships.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
·HGV Technical qualifications - NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent (Essential)
·5 years minimum Experience.
·Mobile working (Preferable)
·Experience diagnosing and repairing faults on chassis, body and specialist equipment - Manufacturers including Dennis, Terberg, Faun, Geesink, HIAB, Heil, HYVA.
·Competent in carrying out LOLER examinations.
·Knowledge of electrics, hydraulics, and pneumatics (Essential)
·An understanding of excellent customer service in addition to a flexible approach
·Able to work on own initiative.
·Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be an advantage.
·Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
·HGV licence preferable but not essential. 
·Ability to communicate at all levels. This will include the ability to: -
oSeek and act on feedback on completed work and overall performance.
