Tips For Dealing With Rejection

As Rejection Blog

Rejection is hard for all of us to swallow, no matter what situation you’re in. Whether you’re starting out in your first role, or you’ve been in business for years, it’s difficult to accept if you haven’t received the result or answer you hoped for, especially when looking for a new job. Have you applied for something but and not made the shortlist? Or did you go to an interview but someone else got the job? We’ve narrowed down our tips for dealing with rejection...

Talk to someone

Here at AutoSkills, we pride ourselves on supporting you every step of the way, so you can be reassured and reminded about why that role might not have worked for you, how to improve your skill set or CV, and help get back on track applying for the next role. If you find yourself feeling alone in your job search, get in touch and let us help. Alternatively, don’t be afraid to speak to your loved ones, friends and family, the support will really motivate you and help boost your self-esteem, so you’re confident in the next interview.

Ask for feedback

It’s okay to ask why you weren’t right for the role. Employers have a responsibility to provide feedback where fit, and it can really help for the next interview or role you apply for. Plus, this is a good opportunity to show your interest in the company, and ask to be considered if something else comes up which might be more suitable. At AutoSkills, we can take this step on for you too.

Reaffirm Your Successes

Rejection can often feel like failure, but it shouldn’t be viewed that way. Remind yourself of where you’ve come, what you’ve achieved so far, and be kinder to yourself. The power of positivity and a positive mind will set you up for a better and more successful interview next time round. At AutoSkills, we will always help you prior to an interview, and are here to discuss how it went after too.

Don’t dwell on it

It’s easy to overthink and overanalyze yourself and the situation, but this isn’t worth your time. Sure, you’re entitled to be upset or disappointed for a short period of time, but it’s important to get back up and climb the career ladder! There is a role out there waiting for you, you just have to find it. With our support, we can help make that happen.
