Job Role: Technical Service Manager - HGV Maintenance
 
Location: Northampton
 
Basic Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
 
Contract Type: Full time / Permanent
 
My client is a specialist commercial vehicle fleet maintainer with a nationwide presence, due to significant expansion and growth in 2023, they are currently looking to recruit a skilled and experienced Technical Service Manager to look after the management of their Vehicle Fleet.
 
Key responsibilities;
 
Responsible for management of all members of the technical service team. This will include but is not limited to: -
o Day to day team management
o Reviewing the targets set and monitoring and managing the team to these targets
o Ongoing employee reviews
o Identification of development requirements for each employee
o Coaching to enhance the skills within the technical service team.
o KPI team reporting
 
Responsible for management and scheduling of the mobile engineers.

o Day to day team management, including logistical management for business cover
o Reviewing the targets set and monitoring and managing the team to these targets
o Ongoing employee reviews
o Identification of development requirements for each employee,
 
Fully responsible for overseeing the maintenance in line with manufacturers recommendations, legislation and contractual obligations. This will include but is not limited to: -

o Management of vehicle repairs and servicing to ensure that they are carried out cost effectively, both internally and subcontracted.
o Identifying rechargeable damage and liaising with the liable party to obtain approval.
o Ensuring warranty periods are maximised and policy claims applied.
o Negotiating with third party repair agents to ensure fair charges.
o Sourcing the most competitive and cost-efficient parts and suppliers, whilst maximising the vehicle availability to the customer.
o Ensure paperwork from third party suppliers and in-house workshops are completed and returned on a timely basis aligned to contractual obligations
 
Negotiate, monitor, measure and recommend third party suppliers to support the maintenance requirements ensuring the contractual requirements for the customer are delivered.
Responsible for monitoring and management of allocated key suppliers to their contractual terms, including measurement against SLAs.
Support and leadership in the dealing with supplier invoice dispute and resolution, to prevent delay in service.
Liaising with customers to build and keep relationships, ensuring the technical service team deliver to the contractual customer requirements.
To ensure the fleet management system is used in accordance with company and legal requirements, which further enable accurate reporting and financial cost control.

 
About you;
 
Essential Skills


·Have a proven experience in management of technical staff
·Have a recognised vehicle engineering qualification i.e. City & Guilds
·High level of knowledge and use of computers
·Strong communication skills
·Presentable, proactive person with the ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner focused on seeking to resolve any problems.
·An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
·Ability to influence change at all levels
·Excellent organization skills, with high levels of attention to detail with ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines.
·A full clean driving license.
 
Desirable Skills


·A LGV category C driving license would be advantageous.
·Hold a Certificate of Professional competence (CPC) National
·Hold membership of IRTE or for a similar organisation.
