HGV technician

Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Technician:

£38,000 - £45,000

Working hours:
Monday to Friday – 06:30 – 18:30
Every other weekend Saturday and Sunday morning
Once a month on call rota. Standby rate of £100 + 4 hours minimum call out


Motivated and Enthusiastic Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Technician required for a successful company in Motherwell.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Technician to join a thriving workshop and be part of a forward-thinking company that looks after their employees.

The Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Technician role involves:
·Carry out specified works to a range of heavy diesel vehicles and machinery including road sweepers in a safe and timely manner
·Diagnose and apply the relevant mechanical & electrical repairs
·Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
·Testing the vehicles to check the repairs work
·Deal with unscheduled repairs and checks as they arise
·Service the vehicles and maintain service records sheets
·Ensure workshop equipment is used within safety guidelines and all equipment is cleaned and returned to base after use.
·To undertake any other relevant duties that is within the scope of the role as requested by the Workshop Foreman

Key Skill/ Experience Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Mechanic:
·Diagnostic skills
·Experience of working with plant machinery in a busy mechanical environment, experience on HGVs, refuse vehicles and plant machinery.
·Electrical & Hydraulic experience
·Servicing mechanical and electrical repairs
·Good knowledge of health and safety
·Full clean driving licence for commercial vehicles (Category C licence would be an advantage but not essential.)

Required for this Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Agricultural Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HGV Technician role :
·Level 3 / City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician
·HGV licence is an advantage
·Diagnostic experience
