Transport Controller


I am looking for an experienced Transport Controller for one of the leading automotive groups in the UK, they genuinely care about what they do and strive to provide a phenomenal quality of service for our customers.
My client knows that customer’s vehicles make getting from A to B that much easier, whether it’s to do the weekly shop, the school run or to get things delivered, it’s all important. they are proud that in 2018 we helped over 86,000 customers get back on the road quickly, smoothly and safely and we’re on track to help 92,000 customers this year.

All roles are at the heart of our Auto Services business and you’ll need be enthusiastic, upbeat and committed to delivering the best repair service.

As a Transport Controller, we want you to bring your previous experience, skills and knowledge to the team. You will be responsible for supervision and coordination of the available transport, ensuring the efficient running of the transport services to our very high standards as well as working to tight deadlines to meet our customer’s needs.

What you’ll be doing:
·You will supervise the whole transport team ensuring all vehicles are collected/delivered within SLA.
·You will lead the courtesy car fleet and manage all your team’s overtime and efficiencies to ensure cost control
·You will manage all our sublet requirements
·Ensure H&S checks are completed by drivers
·You will lead all inspections and repairs of fleet through daily inspections ensuring all Tachographs are filled out and records maintained
·Complete month end working time directive report.
·Ensures that all customers are shown round vehicle before delivery
·Liaising with local repairing workshop and fleet compliance controller to ensure all trucks meet 6 weeks safety checks
·You would have previous experience in a similar role with the following skills/knowledge
·You will have previous bodyshop accident transport controller experience is essential, along with a consistent track record of motivating staff to deliver a quality service on time and on budget.
·You will have a good understanding of the mechanical principles relevant to role.
·You will have the ability to work alone and as part of a team in a pressurised environment.
·You will have the ability to prioritise your work and complete it to a high standard, whilst adhering to our stringent H&S procedures
·Excellent communication skills

You will be working as a lead to our drivers reporting directly and supporting the production manager and site manager and you will also be a part of the wider site team.
