HGV TECHNICIAN

Salary of the HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic / PSV Technician / Mechanic – £34,966pa
Working Hours – 4 on 4 off shift pattern, working an average 39 hours per week, from 6am - 6pm and 7am - 7pm
Location - Amesbury

Responsibilities of a HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic / PSV Technician / Mechanic:
·Main Objectives and Responsibilities · Use PPE as required and adhere to health and safety procedures and legal requirements ·
·Comply with Company policy and procedure ·
·Carry out vehicle preventative maintenance inspection and servicing, MOT preparation and repairs to the highest standard ·
·Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment ·
·Repair or replace broken or defective parts and resolve defects ·
·Carry out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised) ·
·Road test vehicles to check repairs ·
·Maintain VMU equipment and working areas to a good, clean condition ·
·Follow appropriate, job-specific checklists to ensure all jobs are completed according to the specific process ·
·Use of hand tools and general garage equipment ·
·Tail Lift maintenance and vehicle body work repairs, fabrication and basic welding processes
·Provide competent support and assistance to VMU and Transport colleagues ·
·Complete administrative tasks and reports as requested ·
·Ensure paperwork is completed promptly and correctly ·
·Deal professionally and courteously with internal/external enquiries ·
·Communicate with VMU and Transport management of any delays/additional work required
· ·Other VMU related duties as requested, commensurate with skill set


Skills and Qualifications of a HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic / PSV Technician / Mechanic:
·Min 3 years’ proven experience as a Vehicle Technician with trailer maintenance experience
·Level 2 / City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician
·UK Driving licence (HGV category an advantage)
·Experience in fault diagnostic equipment, e.g. Tech tool, STAR and JAL and including trailer systems
·Must own standard tools - more specific tools will be provided
