Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00 (40 hours)


My client is looking for HGV Technician / Mechanic / HGV Fitter / Diesel Mechanic / Plant Fitter / Plant Technician to join their team. You will be required to maintain, repair and service all Northern service centre vehicle fleet. This includes JHL, Rigid jet/vac tankers, Artic Tankers and vans. On exceptional occasions you may also be expected to repair and service plant equipment.

HGV Technician / Mechanic / HGV Fitter / Diesel Mechanic / Plant Fitter / Plant Technician responsibilities:

·Work with the Maintain all Northern Fleet to a professional and high standard.
·Adhering to vehicle and manufacturers specifications and ensuring compliance in relation to vehicle serviceability.
·Attend site to maintain, repair and service vehicles and plant in the event of breakdown at such locations.
·Maintain Company system and update as and when required.
·Assisting Management with viewing and assessing potential vehicle and plant purchase.
·Maintain divisional parts stock; advise Divisional Manager in relation to any required purchases.
·Identify and report any apparent vehicle and plant misuse to supervision.
·Ensure personal knowledge of technological advances is up to date and whenever necessary provide supervision with an overview of such advances; this can be written or verbal, whatever is suitable and appropriate.
·Liaise with Group Fleet, Group Procurement Manager and Group Asset Manager in relation to any changes to the Northern vehicle fleet.
·On occasion, travel to other Northern divisions to repair, maintain and service company vehicles.
·Source vehicle parts in a cost effective and efficient manner. Avoid vehicle ‘downtime’ by ensuring no part is not either in stock or not ordered to avoid such downtime.
·Ensure the depot workshop area is clean, tidy and complies with all relative legislation for an area such as this. This is the postholders responsibility and the postholder should identify and breach and address immediately.
·Ensure all documentation and paperwork relating to vehicles and plant is up to date and readily available for inspection at any time.
·Make recommendation to supervision as to any process or procedure to improve vehicle/plant efficiency.
·Any other duty for which the postholder is qualified and experienced to undertake and assigned by Line Manager.

HGV Technician / Mechanic / HGV Fitter / Diesel Mechanic / Plant Fitter / Plant Technician requirements:

·HGV Classes 1 & 2.
·Possess as a minimum City & Guilds qualification.
·Clean UK Driving Licence.
·Ability to undertake fault diagnostic by any means.
·Knowledge of full ADR and Driver/Tacho regulations.
·Previous experience gained in a similar environment.
·Proven track record of maintaining commercial fleet vehicles.
·Contributing to the efficiency of a commercial fleet
·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
·Professional approach.
·Ability to operate without supervision and use own initiative
