Tuesday - Friday night shift 18:00 - 06:00

Our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller / Workshop Foreman / HGV Technician / Workshop Supervisor for their successful and efficient workshop.

Responsibilities of a Workshop Foreman

·To correctly interpret instructions from the job card/repair orders, to follow all documented quality procedures and to ensure that Service Technicians comply with repair instructions and stipulated settings and tolerances from manufacturer manuals bulletins check sheets etc.
·To obtain and record any necessary technical information by following documented procedures.
·To analyse and report the training needs of allocated staff.
·To allocate, and supervise all work done to ensure the highest possible standard of workmanship and efficiency as per industry guidelines, in order to ensure the maximum utilisation of time available.
·To ensure that Service Technicians are qualified to do the work allocated.
·To ensure that work is completed by the times required and report any likely delays to the service receptionist / customer as early as possible.
·To check and test vehicles and work, as required by documented procedures.
·To ensure that work done, and tests carried out are accurately reported and recorded and to immediately report any further work required or vehicle faults, as laid down in documented procedures.
·To advise the service reception / customer of any parts delays or extra parts required. To order agreed parts from the appropriate supplier.
·To ensure that all displaced parts are immediately clearly identified and / or placed in quarantine areas, as required by documented procedures.
·To ensure that Customers and the Company’s property are protected.
·To ensure that the workshop is kept in a clean and tidy condition and all scrap, etc. is removed immediately upon completion of each repair.
·To maintain own appearance and manner in order to present the best possible image to Customers.
·To accurately report and record work done, and tests carried out and to immediately report any further work required or vehicle faults.
·To protect and maintain all tools and equipment by only using them in the prescribed manner and returning them to their place of storage immediately after use.
·To immediately report any loss, shortage, damage or malfunction of tools and equipment or if any additional tools or equipment are required to complete the repair.
·To carry out tests and checks as necessary on completed work
·To provide information, maintain records and carry out all duties in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
·To undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required.
·To maintain discipline and security in the workshop and good working relationships with other staff and Customers.
·To enhance the image and reputation of the company whilst supporting its commercial interests.
·To comply with good health and safety practice, all statutory requirements, company policies and standard procedures.
·To achieve all company & personal KPI’s & maintain focus on all company financial objectives within given responsibilities.

Required for the Workshop Foreman:

·Technical knowledge
·Attention to detail
·Ability to multitask
·Problem solving
·Organisational and administration skills
·Excellent interpersonal skills
·Ability to build rapport with all internal staff and customers
·Able to supervise and manage staff

Required experience for the Workshop Foreman:

·Technical apprenticeship
·Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a similar role
·1 – 2 years previous people management experience in a similar environment
·In-depth knowledge of the truck industry
·HGV Class 1 licence would be of a benefit but is not essential
