WORKSHOP CONTROLLER PORTSMOUTH






A leading commercial vehicle dealer providing sales, parts and servicing are Looking for an experienced workshop Controller


To oversee the daily operation of the workshop and its various components ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Monitor and control use of all workshop resources (staff, space and equipment) to ensure maximum effect on quality of work, efficiency and profitability. Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the workshop. To build, lead and manage a team comprising workshop reception, foreman and stores to encourage higher morale, efficiency, productivity and customer care. To supervise and train employees to include organising, prioritising and scheduling of individual tasks. Monitor, resolve or report and action as appropriate any health and safety issues in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities

·Manage foreman and technicians to ensure hours worked on jobs are cost effective.
·To monitor daily workload from the ‘T’ card system and prioritise and distribute work to foreman and technicians to ensure maximum quality, productivity and profit to minimise downtime.
·To monitor all paperwork to and from the workshop (i.e. job cards, inspection sheets) to ensure it is completed correctly to enable correct tasks and work to be carried out.
·Ensure the service reception staff obtains a start up order number.
·Notify Operation Manager or Depot Manager of any issues arising that may cause concern to our customer i.e. damage & M.O.T failures.
·To liase with the stores department regarding availability and cost of parts to ensure minimum down time.
·Ensure all parts covered by warranty or surcharges are notified to technicians to enable the part to be returned for credit/surcharge.
·Ensure job cards and paperwork are returned from the workshop upon completion of each job.
·Ensure all paperwork has been completed, signed, parts listed and accurate defect reporting has been carried out.
·Ensure customers are updated at all times regarding additional work required (to include estimated cost of parts, labour and time scale) before work is carried out.
·Ensure customers are informed upon completion of work and advised of any defects/issues.
·Notify the Depot or Operations Manager of any work costing more than £1000 (to include parts and labour) prior to informing the customer or carrying out work.
·To manage and oversee the daily operation of service reception.
·Any other duties as necessary.


Working Hours Monday to Friday 07:30 to 17:30
Every 3rd Saturday 07:30 to 12:00
Annual Salary neg (paid monthly)
