My client, a successful specialist in Excavation and plant are recruiting for an HGV Technician / Plant Fitter / Workshop Fitter for their business.

Your role will be to undertake planned, reactive maintenance and emergency running repairs to our plant. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing both fixed and mobile processing equipment i.e. Powerscreen, McCloskey, Pegson & Kiverco etc along with mobile equipment such as CAT, Hitachi, Liebherr, Volvo etc. You also need to be confident with hydraulics, electrical repairs and welding.

Key responsibilities for the HGV Technician / Plant Fitter / Workshop Fitter :

·Test vehicles and plant machinery and diagnose faults
·Work on HGV's, light commercials and Construction related plant
·MOT prep
·Minor body damage
·Recognise and report vehicle/component defects or symptoms of impending failure
·Service, adjust and repair vehicles/components
·Complete job records
·Order replacement parts
·Leave and attend breakdowns at short notice
·Ability to listen
·Minor welding


Essential Qualities for the HGV Technician / Plant Fitter / Workshop Fitter:

·Previous experience in mechanics (Heavy vehicle, plant and agriculture)
·Strong experience in electrics over hydraulics
·Ability to leave and attend a breakdown at short notice
·Qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair (preferably heavy vehicle) eg City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, Level 2 also be considered)
·Driving licence (preferably HGV)
·Computer literate
·Ability to work well under pressure
·Team player
·Ability to use own initiative
·Attention to detail
·Problem solving skills
·Available for overtime
·Own tools


Desirable Qualities for the HGV Technician / Plant Fitter / Workshop Fitter :
·Commercial mechanical experience - working on HGV and construction related plant
·Please note successful candidates will be required to possess their own tools.
